Considering the Paths of Truth

Welcome to the Coffee Committee.  What began as fodder for or from weekly discussion among friends over coffee and donuts while waiting for children during their Sunday school classes, morphed into this loose collection of fiction, prose, opinion, and reporting.  I prefer fiction as I think it makes a more substantial impression; it tends to cut through the shields we reflexively put up when our politics are challenged.  Alas, inspiration to write comes when it will.

We search for truth here.  There are too many half-truths out there.  Necessary rhetorical persuasion can cross the line into becoming simply a means to mislead.  Of recent years the path to understanding has been blocked by the nonsensical “your truth and my truth”.  Anything that is true will meet any other truth at some point.

We find ourselves in challenging times, and I think each of us are called to consider the events of our time and then do what we can to support that which rings true and point out that which is not.  We began by using pseudonyms, along the lines of Publius.  But today as assaults on speech are growing, the need to confront this menace to our republic must be confronted.  Each of us must stand up in our own way and so The Coffee Committee is being reintroduced.  If you would like to share any of the writings, please give attribution to The Coffee Committee.

The topics are usually treated briefly to make them more readable.  Just click on the Posts age, since current events are usually the catalyst; more recent pieces will be at the top.  There are a few posts below, all are on the Posts page. You may contact us at Gerry@TheCoffeeCommittee.com.
